OUR FIGHT FOR EDUCATION
& DEVELOPMENT

FUND OUR SCHOOLS

We’re Funding Our Schools because our children deserve more than under-resourced classrooms and stretched-thin staff. That means fully funding schools based on student need, expanding after-school programs across NYC, investing in trades and driver’s education pathways, and building a workforce pipeline that brings more guidance counselors and mental health professionals into our communities. Education should open doors, not reinforce barriers.

Universal Year-Round Access to 2K - 4K Programs

Too many Bronx families are placed on waitlists for early childhood education or forced to piece together childcare at unaffordable rates. Childcare in New York can cost over $20,000 a year, pricing working families out of opportunity before their child even enters kindergarten.

We will guarantee universal, year-round 2K, 3K, and 4K access so families have consistent, high-quality early education and reliable childcare support.

Universal Community Schools

In high-poverty neighborhoods, schools are often expected to educate students while families navigate housing instability, food insecurity, and limited healthcare access. When basic needs go unmet, academic performance suffers.

We will transform schools into full community hubs that provide healthcare access, after-school programming, mental health services, adult education, and wraparound support for families.

Universal College, Trade, & Technical Pathways

Student loan debt in New York continues to rise, and many students graduate with debt before securing stable employment. At the same time, vocational and trade programs remain underfunded despite high demand in skilled labor industries.

We will expand tuition-free access to college, trade schools, and technical programs so young people can pursue meaningful careers without lifelong debt.

Year-Round Internships Through SYEP

Summer Youth Employment Programs often operate for only a few weeks each year, leaving thousands of students without consistent work experience. Youth unemployment in the Bronx remains higher than city averages.

We will expand SYEP into a year-round paid internship pipeline that connects young people to city agencies, small businesses, and community organizations.

Expanding After-School Programs to Every NYC School

Many Bronx students leave school each day without structured programming, while after-school slots remain limited. Research consistently shows that after-school engagement reduces idle time, improves academic performance, and increases safety.

We will guarantee access to free, high-quality after-school programs in every public school across NYC.

Reinstate PT, OT, Speech, ELL and other Related Services in Schools

Students with IEPs and English Language Learners continue to experience service gaps due to staffing shortages and underfunding. Families are often left advocating for legally mandated services that should already be provided.

We will restore and expand in-school access to physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech services, ELL supports, and related services to ensure every child receives the education they are entitled to.
