OUR FIGHT FOR COMMUNITY
INVESTMENTS

ELEVATE OUR VOICES
We’re Elevating Our Voices because democracy should work for the people who actually live here. Too often, working-class communities are underrepresented not because we don’t care, but because the system makes participation harder. From complicated registration processes to limited voting access and policies that silence incarcerated individuals, too many Bronx residents are locked out of power.
Implement Automatic Voter Registration at Age 18
Thousands of eligible young voters turn 18 every year in New York but are not automatically registered, creating unnecessary barriers to civic participation. In working-class communities, registration gaps are even wider, limiting political power before it even begins.
We will implement automatic voter registration at age 18 to ensure every young person enters adulthood fully registered and ready to participate in our democracy from day one.
Rebuild and Modernize Transit Infrastructure in the Bronx
Bronx residents experience some of the longest commute times in the city, with unreliable bus routes and aging infrastructure slowing down access to work, school, and opportunity. Transportation inequity limits economic mobility.
We will invest in rebuilding and modernizing Bronx transit infrastructure, increasing bus reliability, improving accessibility, and ensuring outer-borough riders receive the same attention as Manhattan corridors.
Fund and Open 50 New Community-Operated Nonprofits and Local Advancement Initiatives
Grassroots organizations in the Bronx often operate with limited funding while addressing housing instability, food insecurity, youth development, and violence prevention. Many neighborhoods lack consistent, locally controlled resources.
We will fund and launch 50 new community-operated nonprofits and local advancement initiatives that keep leadership and investment rooted in the Bronx.
Restore Voting Rights to Incarcerated Individuals
Thousands of incarcerated New Yorkers are disconnected from the democratic process, disproportionately impacting Black and Latino communities. When residents are excluded from voting, entire neighborhoods lose representation and political influence.
We will restore voting rights to incarcerated individuals so communities are not silenced and civic participation reflects the full population.
City-Run Wholesale and Supermarket Distribution Center
Bronx families often pay higher grocery prices while local supermarkets pay higher wholesale costs compared to large chains. Those costs are passed directly to residents in neighborhoods already facing high poverty rates.
We will establish a city-run wholesale and supermarket distribution center to supply affordable food to community stores and co-ops, lowering grocery costs across the borough.
Dinner and Weekend Meals for Everyone
Food insecurity in the Bronx remains among the highest in the state, with many families relying on school meals as a primary food source. Yet meal programs often stop after the school day ends.
We will expand school meal programs to include supper services and weekend meals so no child goes to bed hungry and families have consistent access to food year-round.
